The Davis house was built in 1916 by a gold miner for his fashionable wife. The Davises purchased the house in 1923. The Craftsman style house was one of the most stylish houses at that time, Mrs. Davis further enhanced the home by adding Fairbanks' first open fire place and oak flooring. The birch trees in front of the house along with those in front of other homes on Cowles Street were planted in honor of President Harding's visit to Fairbanks in 1923. The house is very well maintained and operates as a bed and breakfast.
