According to this Wikipedia article (visit link) , the Kensington runestone suggests that Scandanavian explorers somehow reached central North America by the 14th century. It was found in Solem, MN in 1898 and named after the nearest settlement. Scientists who have studied the 200 pound runestone have dismissed it...but, it's lore is still expounded by the Locals.
The relevant text on the U-Haul reads:

"Did you know...
A stone tablet tells of North American exploration more
than a century before believed. Did explorers leave clues
that could rewrite history, and etch the proof in stone?"
