This Long Leaf Pine cross section or "tree cookie" was taken from a tree cut in Jasper County, Texas in 1939. Growth ring count indicates the tree was about 360 years old when it was cut.
Follow the labels on the tree cookie from seed germination in 1579 forward through Texas history.
