Foyle’s War was a drama series about a police superintendent during World War 2. The drama starred Michael Kitchen as Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle, Honeysuckle Weeks as his driver Samantha Stewart, and Anthony Howell as Sergeant Paul Milner.

In this episode a farmer is found murdered in his farmhouse. The murder is made to look like suicide, but Foyle sees through the deception. There are several suspects for the murder:- a neighbouring farmer that bears a grudge and poaches on the farmer’s land, the farmer’s son who would inherit the farm and get exemption from military service, the man that allegedly ran off with the farmer’s wife, or the land girls working on the farm. In what appears a sub plot initially, a german plane is shot down in an air raid. One of the crew dies because his parachute has been cut and the two others are caught on the run. Later, a fourth airman is discovered hanging by his parachute in the trees, but with his pistol missing. In the end it turns out that the fourth airman shot the farmer, who saw him, and to disguise the fact that the airman was not part of the crew and did not arrive by parachute. The fourth airman was landed from a U boat to kill one of the other crew members, who was in fact a radar technician rather than air crew.

One of the locations is the village hall in Braughing. In the episode Foyle, Sam and Milner are billeted there whilst investigating the murder. The other location is the churchyard opposite which is used for a dialogue between Foyle and one of the women working around the farm.
