A traditional name with an up to date sign? No. Much more straightforward than that.

This pub used to be called "The Vine" a reference to the source of the raw materials for wine. So why The Stone Roses?

This pub is now a music venue and I am told (by the doorman) that they have great bands. But he wouldn't have warned me off would he!

The landlord here came from Sheffield and on arrival renamed the pub after his favourite band. The sign is taken from the artwork on the album "The Stone Roses". The painting on the album is by the group's guitarist, John Squire and called "Bye Bye Badman".
Name of Artist: John Squire.

Date of current sign: Not known.

Date of first pub on site: Not known.
