After a 2.5 to 3 hour hike up to the top of the Kaitake Range, there's great views of the Pouakai Range, Mt. Egmont /Taranaki and the Taranaki coastline from Cape Egmont to North Taranaki.

The tracks on the Kaitake Range are fairly short, but generally unrelentingly uphill. The steepest bits are the last few metres to the top of any of the peaks, the most notable being Patua (682m / 2243 ft).

The Davies Track takes 4-5 hours return from Surrey Hill Road, off Wairau Road, Oakura.

The Patuha Trig, offers great views of the coastline and south to Mt Taranaki.
