"The optical center sedmibokého Marian Square, the island with beds of flowers, towering broad Doric columns of polished granite, the top looking south toward the Statue of Znojmo Rudoarmejce, somtimes called "Ivan". The pose is reminicent of ancient heroes wish a raised machine gun in his right hand. The Rudoarmejec statue still reminds us of the Allied victory over fascism in World War II. Here at Marienplatz residents of Znojmo on 8 May 1945 defeated the Soviet tank armies. Less than five-meter high bronze statue created in 1953 by the sculptor Conrad Babraj. The designer of the monument was the architect Jaroslav Sirotek. In 1968 in response to the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact forces were unsuccessful attempt to overthrow the popular statue of the monument. Even today the presence Rudoarmejce the central hub of Znojmo subject to civil discussion. The history is indelible. "
