More of an architectural work of art than post office. The post office is also a contributing structure to the Mount Holly Historic District.

This is one of the most beautiful, small-town post offices. The building was constructed in 1938 according to the huge cornerstone/big stone block located on the lower left foundation. There is a terrific cupola on top and the original fallout shelter medallion still is attache to the front brick facade to the upper left of the main entrance. It even has the capacity number still listed, the first one I have ever seen still intact.

The inside is vintage. The foyer looks like a turn of the century train ticket office complete with old wood, trimmed to the hilt, glass windows, stained dark. I was able to go inside and walk around after hours and also spied a really cool, wood relief sculpture of post office scene from 1790. It is located on the far right, near the mail counter. It is a half circle and has four adult, a kid and a dog engaging in typical post office goings-on, whatever that would be back in 1790.

Visit Instructions:
To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
