King Chulalongkorn (1853-1910), also known as Rama 5 (the fifth king of the Chakri dynasty—his grandson is on the throne of Thailand), is one of the great kings of Thailand, and fondly remembered by his people. Statues of him are frequently to be seen throughout Thailand, frequently in front of provincial administration buildings.

Outside the provincial government office of the province of Trat province is a statue to King Chulalongkorn. The King is portrayed in western military garb. As with most statues in Thailand, it is also a shrine. People come by to pay their respects to the King.
