This is a big memorial dedicated to the veterans of Shelby County.

The anchor of this memorial is an obelisk styled Civil War monument.
It has been added to in the last few years.
There is some inscriptions on the back of the of the black granite piece that houses the eternal flame. But I did not want to climb on the memorial to get the pictures, or to disrespect the memorial.
The black granite portion is divided into three sections.
The main section has the dedication to all veteran, along with all five emblems of the services.
The left section has an engraving of General Macarthur when he returned to the Phillipines.
The right section has an engraving of the US Marines raising the American Flag on Mt. Suribachi, at Iwo Jima.

Description of Memorial: The Memorial is set in Freedom Square across from the Shelby County Courthouse.
It is a focal point for the community as well as vistors that come this way.
The grounds that surround this area are well cared for.
Several United States Flags are placed on the perimeter of Freedom Square, wich makes for an impressive sight.
