This tree is chewing on a rusty NO VEHICLES sign. You'll find the tree on top of Pool Hill, the higest point of
Rockport, Massachusetts. The tree is standing next to a small and overgrown path surrounded by town forest. You will hardly see any vehicles up here.
However, in the past, there stood a lookout tower up here. The tower was used by the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army until 1941 and was then removed. You will only find the remnants of the concrete foundations of the tower near the tree in the underbrush. Only 75 feet away you might also find some bench marks. Station PID is
MY4937 - POOL HILL and there is also a geocache up here, it is
GCHX2B - Pools Hill Lookout Tower. Check it out.
To reach the this omnivorous tree from Rockport drive up Summit Ave. You can park at
N42°39.451 W070°37.869. It's a small park where the trail starts. If you don't find it ask for the Turtle Rock.
Enjoy your visit of Rockport and Pool Hill.
