Pouakai Zoo is a family friendly Zoo, where you can hand feed animals such as the Zebra, Goats, Llama, Cattle, Sheep, Kune Kune Pigs. There's also the Bird life roaming the Zoo grounds including Peacocks, Ducks, Pigeons, Emu’s and Ostrich.

Pack a picnic lunch, sit back to watch Monkeys swing, Meerkats play, and enjoy observing the wonderful Lion Pride. The Lion Pride and Bengal White Tigers are fed daily at 1.30pm, and you should be sure to include this into your visit to the Zoo.

You can stroll through the ‘bush walk’ to visit the livestock on the West side of the Zoo.

You can purchase hand-feeding food for the animals, snacks, a drink or souvenirs for yourself from the Zoo Shop, and while there check out the Fish in the Tank and view the reptile collection.

Entry fee is $14 for adults, $5 for children 5-14, with under 5s free. Group bookings are available at a reduced rate - we held a children's Xmas party there in 2007.

Pouakai Zoo is a privately owned Family business, with 100% of funds coming directly from visitors.
