The railway line does not touch an inhabited area of the two communities. The station is located on the soil of Lampenberg, but is actually much closer to Ramlinsburg. There are buses from the station to both villages.
The railway line is the Waldenburgerbahn. It has a length of 13.1 km, it connects Liestal to Waldenburg and was established in 1880. It is the only narrow gauge line in Switzerland with a track gauge of 750 mm (standard narrow gauge track is 1000 mm), and the only one in Europe that is part of the public transport system and not purely touristic or inside a company area (e.g. mining). The line is also listed as line 19 of the Basel tramway system but this number does not appear on the trains.
There is a train every 30 minutes in each direction. From spring to autumn there are also four connections with a steam train of 1902 on one Sunday every month.
