This station is a U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey disk, stamped -K 9 1933-, and set in the top of a concrete wing wall of a small culvert.
It has been reported as suitable for satellite observations July 5, 2004.
The NGS datasheet uses railroad measurements predominantly in their description, whereas the NHDOT datasheet has more road access details:
THE STATION IS LOCATED IN BOW. TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF STATE ROUTE 3A AND HALL STREET IN CONCORD, GO NORTHEAST FOR 100 FT ON HALL STREET TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT. THE STATION IS A STANDARD USCGS DISK STAMPED -K 9 1933-, SET IN THE TOP OF THE EAST END OF THE NORTHEAST CONCRETE WING WALL OF A SMALL CULVERT, LOCATED 318 FT NORTH ALONG THE BOSTON AND MAINE RAILROAD FROM HALL STREET,31.5 FT NORTHEAST FROM A CONCRETE MONUMENT MARKED 71/12, 18.5 FT EAST FROM THE CENTER OF THE TRACK, 11.0 FT WEST FROM THE WEST EDGE OF PAVEMENT, 11.0 FT NORTH FROM THE CENTER OF A 3.0 FT DIAMETER CONCRETE PIPE.
Both datasheets are adequate in their descriptions, however, for the NGS datasheet: there are no longer any signals present, and the B-71 milestone has been changed to 43.
There is a yellow-painted steel railing around the culvert where the station is, the mark is right under the railing, making for an easy find.
Two caveats here: The railroad, though used infrequently, is still active. Also, the parking area next to the culvert is a depot for a grain and feed company and could be very busy, especially on weekdays. Use your best judgment, be safe.
