It would appear that this Memorial was either transferred to this building OR, more likely, this building was once something other than an art center and gallery as it is now. There is a marker outside the building indicating that a United States Life-Saving Station used to be located near here.
The Memorial is is several pieces...on the left side of the entrance to the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences.
A rectangular relief sculpture depicts a dead? woman with the words "The dead can not change their minds." above her. Near the right hand corner one can read "Fort Dix" and the date and name of the artist "1943 Boris Blai" Under this relief is also a a name: "Lt. Emory Laslocky" and presumably that is the name of the person depicted on the nearby bust of a soldier. Laslocky was an Army Silver Medal Awardee for conspicious service in action and is listed as "Laslocky, Emery HQ, 8th Infantry Division, G.O. No. 76 (1944)" on this website: (visit link)

Two additional pieces are plaques which list the names of those from Ocean County, NJ, who died in WWII. The first plaque starts :"OCEAN COUNTY NEW JERSEY KILLED IN WORLD WAR 2" and proceeds to list names alphabetically within branch of service.
Another piece is a circular relief sculpture depicting "Mother Victory".
