One of the oldest and most valuable historical sights in Bohemia is the Cheb castle. It was founded in the 12th cent, by the Bavarian family Vohburg. In the 13th cent the castle was incorporated into the town fortification and lost its independent defending role. In the middle of the 17th cent, turned into a Baroque fortress. After plundering in 1742 the castle was becoming gradually dilapidated.
Do not forget to also visit the square of the town, Spalicek building and place murdered Duke of Wallenstein.
