The sign was placed here as part of the Millennium Project
by the Millennium Commission supported by funds from the National Lottery.

This sign is on the Granite Way Cycle Track, situated at the disused Meldon Station and next to Meldon Viaduct.
The sign tell us:
Footpath to Meldon Dam 1/2 mile
Meldon 1/4
Lydford 6 1/2
Okehampton 2 1/2

The Granite Way is an 11 mile cycle and walkway running between Okehampton and Lydford along the north western edge of Dartmoor. It is mostly traffic free, largely following the course of the former Southern Region railway line. A route along the Granite Way offers good views of the landscape of Dartmoor, as well as a number of specific sites of geological interest.
