This sign tells of the history of the river drives dating as far back as the 1840s when logs were floated down the Petawawa and Nipissing Rivers to Ottawa, then the St. Lawrence River where they were eventually loaded onto ships at Quebec City and transported to England. This sign also includes images of the log chutes that were built to overcome rapids along the rivers.
