Two sided Marker at Washington/Frederick County line on Rte. 340.

Frederick County named for Frederick 5th and last Lord Baltimore. Erected out of Prince George's County in 1748.
It then included Montgomery County and all of Maryland west to the West Virginia boundary.
Opposite Side
Washington County, First County in the United States named for the father of his country. Erected out of Frederick County in 1776. It then included what is now Allegany and Garrett Counties.
This Marker is at the boundary of Frederick and Washington Counties on Rte. 340.

Location (required): Located adjacent to the Northbound lanes of US Rte, 340 just North of Weverton about 2 miles North of the Potomac River Bridge.
