Westfield Parramatta was the first of a growing empire under founder Frank Lowy.

It attracts 28.6 million customer visits per year (more than the population of Australia) and is one of the country's busiest Westfield shopping centres.

The centre was first constructed in 1975. It has been progressively upgraded and it 1996 is increased in area to 125,000 square metres.

The centre is home to approximately 490 retailers, including Woolworths, Coles, Big W, Target and Myer. It also has a large cinema complex and is 'integrated' with the Parramatta railway station and bus exchange.
