The Hays 1967 Centenial time capsule will be opened in 2067. It contains soil samples and additional data from the Ellis County Conservation District. This capsule is at the the foot of the Buffalo Statue at the old Fort Hays.

The time capsule is to provide historical reference
of the Kansas family farmers working with the federal
government for stabilizing soil and water and other
renewable natural resources for future generations.
Contents: 3 foot soil core samples from each of the
12 Major land resource areas in Kansas. Records, reports,
reference material and other data....."
