The plaques states -
"Engineer C.Y.O'Connor. M.Inst., C.E. C.M.G.
First stones tipped by Sir John Forrest K.C.M.G Premier of Western Australia, 27th April 1897.
Built at a cost of (pounds)116,705.
First stage followed a basalt reef in a north-easterly direction from Point Casuarina to a length of 976 metres.
Extended in stages to 1753 metres by 1987.
At least fourteen ships were wrecked in Koombana Bay before this breakwater was constructed.
Bunbury Joint Heritage Group Plaque funded by Bunbury Port Authority."
