This fire station was founded in 1878, the first motorized fire truck was acquired in 1949 and they moved to their current location in 1951.

In 1997 the Feuerwehr Muttenz (what the sign on the building still says) changed the name to Stützpunkt-Feuerwehr Muttenz, this means as a major base, it is also resposible to support the local fire brigades of the smaller neighboring towns.
