Directly across from the Russian embassy in Phnom Penh is this well cared for, but old looking Buddhist Wat. According to the sign at the front gate, the Wat is a Buddhist university. Most of the more distinguished Wats teach Buddhism to monks and to other Buddhists.

The grounds of the Wat looked well tended, and would have made for an interesting visit, however, most Wats house stray dogs, and, as soon as I stepped through the gate, I was surrounded by a pack of unfriendly, yapping canines. Discretion being the better part of valour I took a few snaps through the Wat fence, and departed.

What intrigues me is the Wat sign, it is in both Khmer and English. If this Wat was constructed during the French colonial period, why was English used? If later, during the days of the Khmer Rouge, there was even less reason to use English.
