Kirby Road used to cross the Humber River at this point, slowly climb the edge of the Humber Valley and continue on through Vaughn, Ontario. When the roadbed eroded away where the road nears the top of the Humber Valley it was deemed too expensive to install a retaining wall and re-secure the road. This section of Kirby Road between Huntington Road and just west of Highway 27 was abandoned.

The concrete bridge still remains and is used as a hiking trail along the Humber Valley Heritage Trail.
