A permanent settlement has existed at the site of modern Moyers since at least the 1880s. The “Frisco” railroad built a line from north to south through the Choctaw Nation, connecting Fort Smith, Arkansas with Paris, Texas, which paralleled the Kiamichi River. The Moyers area was one of the many train stops which served as residences for railway supervisors and points at which the trains could draw water.
The site of the future Moyers was selected because of its proximity to the Kiamichi River, with its abundant water supply.

The first known mention of Moyers occurred in 1904, when an Antlers newspaper referred to the settlement as “Moyer’s Spur” which may have referred to the tram built from Moyers up to the asphalt mines. “Moyer” was a reference to Roy Abraham Moyer, a local settler. It was not until 1910 that Moyer’s Spur became known as “Moyers”, the name it continues by today. A post office was established here on November 27, 1908.

The lumber industry has also flourished in this area. Moyers is located in a very picturesque area with Rodney Mountain to the south and Parker Mountain to the north. East of Moyers is the Kiamichi River.

To post a log to an existing U.S. Post Office waymark, you will need to post a picture of the front of the building, with the name of the post office in the background if that is possible.

A description of your Post Office is required, such as when it was built, history, outstanding or unique features, population of the city or town, just do a quick internet search and find an interesting bit of information about the city or town and add it to the long description, to make it more interesting. Even just adding in the population of the area can give others an idea of how many people this post office serves. This description should be at least three sentences.

If your Post Office has any unusual or unique features that you feel others would enjoy viewing, additional pictures are always welcome.
Including your gps device in the picture is not necessary, but wouldn't be cause for disapproval, as long as all other details of your log are acceptable.
