A granite stone with eagles and wreaths is inscribed as per below. Behind the stone is a cordon of flags including US, IL and MIA. There is a walkway approaching the display. On the right side is a US Navy anchor with the number 5908, painted gray. On the left is a small, green artillery piece. Further left is a US Air Force plane N14039, which looks like a Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star trainer jet. Farthest left is a peculiar display of bomb casings.
Type of Memorial: Non-Specific Memorial
In Honor Of: the living and the dead (it doesn't really say the memorial is for veterans, allthough this is clearly implied)
Marker Text: In grateful tribute to the living and the dead, for their valiant efforts and sacrifices, this memorial is humbly dedicated.
Date of dedication: none evident
Who Put it Here?: none evident
Description of Memorial: I found this memorial park while driving around town looking for a caboose to waymark on a very hot day. The fact that they had so many things on display made me pull over. Villa Grove is a small central IL town that seems to depend on farming and a rail depot not far from the memorial. The downtown area has seen better days.
Wars mentioned (Multi-war only): Not listed
