Corning is one of three cities in Tehama County. It's known as the Olive City and is home to the Bell Carter Olive Company, a large olive cannery. Yearly in August, the city holds the Corning Olive Festival. It includes parades and the crowning of Miss Corning.
The city is a popular stop along I-5. It's also home to the tourist attraction/restaurant The Olive Pit.
The plaque is on the front of Corning's city hall. It's on the left side of the entrance to the building. The plaque reads: Corning, California Centennial. 1882-1982.".
