The Dietrich Activity Center on the campus of Walla Walla (WA) Community College began life as the Chinese Pavilion at Expo '74, the Spokane World's Fair. After the Fair, the pavilion was dissembled, trucked to Walla Walla, and reconstructed. It is now used for a multitude of college and community functions including basketball games, concerts, trade shows, etc. Locally, it is known as the Dietrich Dome or the China Dome.
When the Fair started in 1974, Spokane was the smallest city to hold such an international fair. All the Fair did was bring in 5.2 million visitors, put $150,000,000 into the area economy, and come very close to breaking even financially.
