With an exterior of limestone veneer and a slate covered roof this four story, 29,995 square foot building was constructed in the neo-classical Beaux-Arts style. The Post Office was housed on the first floor while the courtroom operated on the second floor. The basement, third and fourth floors were used as offices. Often referred to as “the old post office” the building was used for it’s original purpose until 1981, when the Post Office moved to nearby Hines Street.
The building was sold by the county in 1988 for $44,000 and since 1992 has been home to the Imagination Station Science Museum.
