The Little Rock US Post Office and Courthouse was built in 1931-1932 as an economic enhancement project to reduce unemployment early in the Great Depression. The building was designed by the James A. Wetmore, U.S. Department of Treasury Supervising Architect. The building is reflective of federal buildings of its time with a restrained Classical Revival style. The building originally housed a post office on the first floor however the post office moved from the building in the mid-1990s. The building has had two additions one in 1941 and 1987. The building is currently undergoing renovation including enhancement of security for the federal offices and courts the building continues to house. The building is now named the Richard S. Arnold U.S. Courthouse.
