Moses J. Church owned hundreds of acres of land in Fresno County and in 1885 donated some of it to the community in order to build a cemetery district. There are several cemeteries in the area built on his land. Church was a land developer and is credited with establishing the first irrigation systems in the county.
The plaque memorializes the donation of the land to the Armenian Community. It reads:
In Memorium
IN GREATFUL APPRECIATION THIS

REVERED MEMORY OF M.J. CHURCH
WHO, ON DECEMBER 2, 1885, GRANTED
THIS LAND TO THE ARMENIAN
COMMUNITY OF FRESNO, TO BE USED
