The Chattanooga post office is located at 307 Madison Avenue, in this town of about 450. You have to admit, it's a cute post office.
Hours: M-F 8:30-12:00, 1:00-3:30
Sat. 8:00-9:00
Settlers first arrived in this area during the Kiowa-Comanche-Apache land opening on August 6, 1901. A townsite plat was filed in July, 1902. A post office was established on January 31, 1903 and the town was named for Chattanooga, Tennessee. Population of the town reached a high of 1200 in the early 1900's.
History of the town is documented on Chattanooga's website, www.chattyok.com. One town event that occurs has got to be unique to this town: "Outhouse Races."
