This gorge was created by rapid run-off after the ice age, followed by years of erosion over its sandstone walls. There is only one way in and one way out. It narrows to a point in the back of the gorge where this waterfall exists most of the year. The sandstone walls are 200 feet tall on each side. There are two trails at Conkles Hollow, one is a paved handicap accessible path down the middle of the Hollow and the Rim trail goes all the way around the Hollow and offers breathtaking views. The Rim Trail also can be dangerous as you are sometimes close to the rim and caution must be used. In order to visit this Waymark, you will need to take the paved handicap accessible trail. This is a beautiful place at every time of the year, especially after heavy rains.
