The plaque reads: "A Sailors Memorial.
This grove of trees is dedicated to all the men and women who went down to the sea in ships and did not return. Some were lost in local waters and many more were far from home. Some have no resting place but the lonely sea.
May they rest in peace.
Eternal Father strong to save O hear us when we cry to thee For those in peril on the sea
Erected 1994 by Royal Canadian Naval Association, Nanaimo Harbour Commission, The Company of Master Mariners of Canada, City of Nanaimo, Corporations and citizens of Nanaimo."
