The stocks are probably 17th or 18th century. Made of oak with side posts capped in lead.

The stocks were replaced by R W Mylne on the occasion of Queen Victoria’s Jubilee in 1897. The stocks were originally behind the George IV public house, but were moved to their present location in the 1920s.
