The sign does not say it, but their website clearly states that this is a xeriscape demonstration garden.

The award-winning Xeriscape Botanical Garden (at the Glendale Main Library, 5959 W. Brown St.) began its initial construction in June of 1990. Since that time, the garden has grown to nearly four acres in size with more than 400 species of plants and is considered one of the best demonstration gardens in the state. There is a virtual tour on their website. Folks can check out an audio tour inside the library for the garden. There are free field trips available to kids too.

The garden is not a standard garden shape. It occupies all the spaces between car parking lanes and around sidewalks at the Glendale Pubilc Library. Even the birds are unusual. It is next door to Saguaro Ranch Park which has a substantial population of peacocks.
