The San Diego Sports Arena.

Portions of Cameron Crowe's semi-autobiographical film "Almost Famous" were shot in and around San Diego, the director's home town. The Sports Arena figures early on in the development of the protagonist, William (Patrick Fugit), as it is here that he first attempts to get inside the world of rock and roll by failing to score a backstage pass to Led Zeppllin, and then succeeding in getting backstage to interview the fictional band "Stillwater". As well, he first meets in the parking lot of the arena the woman of his dreams, one Ms. Penny Lane (Kate Hudson), and the other Band-Aids (Fairuza Balk and Anna Paquin). And who has seen this movie can ever forget the admonition of William's mother (played to a tee by Frances McDormand)in the parking lot as he is dropped off to start his career:
"William! Don't take drugs!!!!"
