This very large mural shows the lives of settlers in the old west environment of Colorado.
This mural provides a peek into the lives of the settlers of the vast Colorado country. The settlers had to learn to live with their wild neighbors, such as the bear and deer shown in the mural, while turning the harsh land into productive farm land, bringing cattle, setting up homesteads, erecting windmills to provide much needed water to the parched animals. The beauty of the environment is not missed; the mountains and fascinating geological formations were admired by the settlers as well as being obstacles that slowed attempts to produce a living from the land, and it is also noteworthy to notice that the size of the forest and stream are small in comparision to the overall landscape, as these were realities of living in this part of Colorado.
