This is one of many granite posts used to mark the "corner" points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the City of Beverly and the Town of Wenham. It is roughly triangular in cross section, about ten inches on a side, and about three feet high. The letter "B" (for Beverly) is painted on one side, and the letter "W" (for Wenham) is painted on another side.

To reach the marker, take exit 17 (Grapevine Road) off route 128. Near the top of the overpass, on the Wenham side and heading southwest, there is an obscure dirt road parallel and close to Rt 128. See non-public access below. About 0.4 mile in on this road, enter the woods and follow the ridge and your GPS about 1/4 mile northwest to the marker.

The next adjacent marker heading southeast is Beverly-Wenham 3, 0.5 mile.
The next adjacent marker heading northwest is Beverly-Wenham 5, 0.6 mile.
