When Murrin Provincial Park was established in 1962 it was a scenic and rather quiet wayside park popular with people from Vancouver as a picnic destination.

Over the years since then the Sea to Sky Highway has been widened and traffic volumes have increased providing a lot of highway sounds. Nevertheless the park has become popular with rock climbers. As the provincial parks website states: "this park has various climbing walls named the Shaman, Sugarloaf, Bog Wall, Leviticus, Petrifying Wall and The Brunser that provide for excellent climbing opportunities".
