This is a Florida Department Of Transportation (FDOT) benchmark survey marker. The benchmark number is difficult to read. My best guess is "40 08 32".

This benchmark would likely have been placed during the construction of the Roosevelt Bridge, which took place from 1994 to 1998. The twin segmental box girder bridge allows US Highway 1 (locally, Federal Highway) to cross the St Lucie River. It replaces the Old Roosevelt Bridge, a drawbridge that originally opened in the 1930s.

This benchmark is located where the bridge ramp and the actual bridge meet. It is in the middle of the sidewalk on the east side of the east span (northbound lanes) of the bridge.
