Church of St. Peter from Alcantara was built in 1736 in baroque style. It was built by local nobleman Franz Wilhelm Larisch in place of a wooden church of St. Martin, mentioned already in the 1447th. The church stands at the former center of the main town of Karvina, today Karvina Doly.
The uniqueness of this church is not only in its historical value, but especially in circumstances that affected the construction and permanently changed it.
This rarity is placed where over 40 years of the last century lead to the decrease of surface of 36 m, caused in inclination of the church by 6.8° south of the vertical axis because of minning. This tendency is very visually evident.

Kostel svatého Petra z Alkantary byl postaven roku 1736 v barokním slohu. Nechal jej postavit místní šlechtic František Wilhelm Larisch na míste dreveného kostela svatého Martina, zminovaného již v roce 1447. Kostel stojí v míste centra puvodního mesta Karviná, dnes Karviná Doly.
Jedinecnost chrámu spocívá nejen v jeho historické hodnote, ale zejména v okolnostech, které stavbu postihly a natrvalo poznamenaly. Po zahájení težby cerného uhlí roku 1854 bylo pod kostelem vyteženo 27 slojí v celkové mocnosti 46,82 metru. Ješte pocátkem 90. let minulého století hrozilo kostelu zrícení a byl urcen k demolici. V letech 1994-1995 probehla generální oprava a zajištení objektu a kostel se tak znovu zaskvel v plné kráse. V dusledku poddolování poklesl kostel dnes již o 37 metru a vychýlil se o 6,8 stupnu na jih.
