To be found on a hill-top above the village of Malhão, this marker sits alongside two forest lookout towers.

Going north from Taipa from the EM 124 on the EN 503 towards the Serra do Caldeirão, we found an isolated cafe at a cross roads 'on top of the world'. In the near distance a tower on an even higher point drew us onwards and upwards, entering Malhão we took a right at the fork in the road to a square in the village where we could leave the car. 350m to the NW along a dirt road near two forest lookout towers we found our first geodetic point marker.
The marker is at 537m asl but the views are not great as it's surrounded by trees. A better view is to had from the track back towards Malhão, looking to the west the Serra de Monchique, at 902m asl, can be seen at a distance of 40km. This is not the highest point in the Serra but it feels like it is, and peaceful! - no wonder the Buddist Monks came here to build their monastery.
