Northbound travelers crossing from California to Oregon on US Highway 97 are greeted with an artistic metal sculpture mounted on a rock base. The sign featuring an eagle flying at the top of a pine tree. The sign has layers of metal sheets, each cut in the outline of mountain ridges to give it depth. "Oregon Welcomes You" is done in large metal letters mounted on the stone base. The artist name, Rayna Larson, can be found welded onto a metal sheet, along with the date (19)98.
Southbound travelers from Oregon to California see a much more conventional, simple steel sign.
To reach this point, California travelers would take Highway 97 north out of Weed, California, while Oregon travelers would go south on Highway 97 from Klamath Falls, Oregon.
