This marker is just a couple of miles north of the Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport, Springfield, Illinois. As you proceed toward Petersburg, you will see a small highway sign pointing to this marker that is located on a curve. You have to really look for it, since you are driving through a curve with oncomming traffic. It is just yet another little piece of Illinois history we drive pass everyday without seeing.
