South of Mapiu, at the top of the hill on SH4, there is an old milk stand on the roadside near a farm gate.

Just north of "Pig Farm Corner" the big bend on SH4, there is a lonely little milk stand still standing on the roadside at the top of the hill. This one supports the farm mail box, is made of wood, painted, with the usual corrugated iron roof and has a door and an open platform.
There seem to be very few milk stands left on the roadside now that milk tankers collect the milk, we found only 4 on the main road between Taumarunui and Taranaki.
