"To Make You Smile" Birdhouses
Birds love these houses because they smell like miniature cedar chests.
The cedar backs and sides are made from cutoffs from a fence company.
Every house has a clean out that unscrews in the lower back. The houses
are built to Audubon specifications with 1 1/4" entry holes for small cavity
nesting birds such as chickadees, violet green swallows, nuthatches and
some varieties of wren.

The artists value patina-textured metals. Most of the houses have vintage
copper and brass. Often, the metal has been textured using an antique
hand stove piping machine. The fronts of every house are made from
recycled vintage wood, which adds a delightful texture. The weathered
look of the houses is often achieved by accenting the original paint.

    Legacy Emanuel Children's Garden
The Children's Garden at Legacy Emanual Children's Hospital is very easy to visit. There is plenty of parking near the hospital. If you use the following parking coordinates (N 45.544 W 122.669), then the most obvious entrance will be near at the "turn around." You might see several taxis picking up and dropping off patients and visitors. If you enter through these doors, turn right at the reception desk and follow the beautiful and highly polished brown granite tiled floors until you find the garden. You will be able to see it through the windows. The garden is in an atrium, so if it's raining, you will get wet. It's a very small but lovely place with lots to see and photograph; plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the garden; and lots of visitors passing through.
