This secret pool lies at the end of a short bush track, often passed unnoticed by motorists on their way to the beach. A waterfall cascades into a series of rock pools, a favourite swimming hole well off the beaten track.

The track leads off the Pauanui Beach road, often only spotted because other vehicles are parked there, in the middle of nowhere.
Stop and take a closer look. You will discover a track leading into the bush. Follow it to the end of the valley where a waterfall cascades into pools, cool and refreshing in summer, a nice cool change from the saltwater surf nearby.
