The Scappoose Sauerkraut Festival is a one-day event held each September since 1989 at Heritage Park remembering the days when the local farmers grew cabbage for the local pickle factory. Admission is free.

This is a very popular local event sponsored by the Scappoose Community Club and attended by approximately 10,000 visitors each year. The festival featuresbooths, a cabbage bowling tournament, craft vendors, entertainment, a fashion show, food, the Matt Moquin 5K Fun Run, music, a petting zoo, pony rides, a quilt show, sauerkraut cupcakes, a sauerkraut eating contest, sauerkraut ice cream, the Scappoose Farmers' Market and the famous Scappoose Sausage Sandwich. Fun for the whole family.
